Meet Gwinn Spence, LGPC
Practicing since: 2018
Gwinn Spence graduated from Bowie State University with a degree in Counseling Psychology. She began her career as a Christian counselor, where she developed a strong foundation in providing compassionate, faith-informed support. Recognizing the growing need for counseling and support beyond the church, Gwinn expanded her work into the field of clinical mental health with specialized training in drug and alcohol counseling.
Gwinn also spent several years working in the rehabilitation field, gaining valuable experience that she continues to incorporate in her work with clients. Her areas of specialty include sustaining sobriety, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), grief, childrenβs therapy, and couplesβ therapy for those seeking restoration and healing.
The core values that guide Gwinnβs practice are humility, progress, patience, and wholeness. These values shape her approach to treatment, allowing her to work with each client with empathy and compassion, while helping them recognize their strengths and make meaningful progress.
Clients can expect a variety of therapeutic approaches, methods, and resources throughout their treatment with Gwinn. She places a strong emphasis on building rapport and creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard and understood. While providing encouragement and emotional support, Gwinn also gently challenges distorted thinking patterns and helps clients develop healthier ways of thinking and coping.
