Meet Jane Spell, LCPC, NCC
Practicing since: 1990
Jane Spell graduated from Loyola University with a Masterβs degree in Counseling Psychology. Her decision to work in the mental health field was inspired by her own personal experiences of finding hope. Jane was drawn to help others by using what she learned firsthand to transform tragedies into triumphs and to support meaningful healing and growth. She believes that having the lived experience of understanding what a client is going through creates an empathy that drives her practice.
Jane is also a National Certified Counselor as awarded by the NBCC (#37037). Anxiety disorders are an area of specialty, with an emphasis on Social Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia, and Panic Attacks. She also works extensively with Grief, especially when arising from involuntary childlessness and aging without children or grandchildren. Jane is passionate about helping clients heal from the unique challenges these circumstances can bring.
For Jane, creating a compassionate and trusting therapeutic relationship is an essential part of the therapy process. Her treatment approach is Self-Compassion, Eclectic, and Insight-Oriented. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she provides a warm and welcoming space. Clients can expect to work collaboratively with Jane to establish rapport in a warm and welcoming space. Building trust is very important to Jane, and she fosters it through empathy and encouragement as she gently guides clients through their challenges and inner struggles.
Jane Spell, LCPC, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LC3896).
